Can You Make Your Own CBD Cookies?

Want to know if you can make your own CBD cookies?

Of course, you can!

And it provides a pleasant at-home baking experience, but we also understand there may be other reasons you want to explore this option.

Whatever the reason, we’re here to help you through the process and highlight all the benefits associated with whipping up a decadent batch of CBD-infused cookies

What are CBD Cookies?

This might seem self-explanatory, but we like to cover all the bases since everyone has varying CBD knowledge levels.

CBD cookies are cookies made with CBD, also known as CBD edibles. There are a few ways to make them, but most people simplify the process with CBD-infused butter.

With premade CBD butter, all you have to do is follow the recipe and bake your cookies as you normally would.

Now you know what CBD cookies are, so let’s talk about expectations.

Let’s Talk about the Benefits

When you say “CBD edible,” some people immediately think about the intoxicating kind—the one that left them with a bad experience but a good party story to tell.

But CBD edibles aren’t capable of producing the same effects since CBD contains less than 0.3% THC. This low THC concentration is the same thing that affords CBD its legal status throughout most of the world.

Here are the main benefits related to CBD cookies:

  • Long-Lasting Relief—Edibles take a bit longer to take effect, but you can expect 6-8 hours of therapeutic relief once they do.
  • Non-Psychoactive—Non-intoxicating since there’s less than 0.3% THC
  • Easy to Make—You can add CBD-infused butter into any cookie recipe you want. It’s also pretty simple to make your own butter.
  • CBD Counteracts the Effects of THC—Some people don’t know this, but CBD counteracts the effects of THC. So if you accidentally overindulge, a couple of CBD cookies can level you out.
  • Provides a Discreet Serving Option—Cookies are unsuspecting because everyone likes cookies, right? This means you’re able to get your serving in anywhere without prying eyes taking notice.

Let’s get into how CBD cookies work in the body, specifically, the process they go through to take effect.

Adding CBD to your daily routine enhances your overall quality of life, helping you keep your chill and stay focused, even in the most challenging situations.

Some of the more general benefits of CBD include improved sleep, reduction of minor aches and pains, better mood, and it works to limit those anxious, obsessive thought patterns that feed self-doubt.

CBD Cookies & The Endocannabinoid System

Cookies on a grey panCBD cookies work in your system like any other CBD product through the endocannabinoid system. This system maintains homeostasis throughout the body with the help of receptors and enzymes.

Cannabinoid receptors are scattered throughout the body, embedded in cells, ready to send signals when some of the bodily processes are out of balance.

The two primary receptors are the CB1 and CB2 receptors.

The CB1 receptor is primarily responsible for the nervous system, connective tissue, glands, and organs.

The CB2 receptor is responsible for the immune system and related structures.

All of this plays a vital role in how your body absorbs cannabinoids. The rate your body absorbs cannabinoids is called bioavailability. Interestingly, different CBD product categories have different bioavailability rates.

CBD cookies, or edibles in general, have the lowest bioavailability rate because they have to pass through the digestive system before absorbing into the bloodstream. Not to mention, some of the CBD content gets lost on the journey.

But CBD edibles are still loved by many because they’re a straightforward way to take CBD, especially if you’re new to CBD.

How to Make a Batch of Your Own

CookiesWhen you decide you want to bake a batch of your own, here’s a simple recipe to try. Keep in mind that you can swap out ingredients to make the batch of cookies more of your vibe.

If you’re more “health-conscious,” you can swap out the flour for oat flour or almond flour. You could also opt for coconut sugar or any other sweetener alternative.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • Teaspoon ½ salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 0.5 oz Unflavored CBD Tincture
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons hot water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Combine softened butter with CBD tincture (or use CBD cannabutter if you have it), brown sugar, and white sugar in a bowl and cream until smooth. Then, add your eggs in one at a time, and softly stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 3: Mix the baking soda with the hot water and salt, and stir into the cookie mixture. Then, slowly incorporate the chocolate chips, nuts (if you want them), and the flour.

Step 4: Using an ice cream scoop or large spoon, place scoops onto ungreased pans, then bake for about 10 minutes (or until the edges start to turn a golden brown).

Step 5: Let them cool for a few minutes and enjoy!

We’ve all overindulged when it comes to cookies, but this isn’t the time to do so.

With any type of CBD product, you want to start with a small amount and work your way up. Also, take note of the onset time—30 to 90 minutes. This is the standard amount of time it takes for CBD edibles to take effect since they have to pass through the digestive system, as previously mentioned.

Wrapping It All Up

If you have a sweet spot for CBD cookies, the good news is that you can grab them for your favorite retailer (wink, wink).

Or, if you’re feeling domestic, you can make a batch at home.

Besides, baking can be quite therapeutic, they say, and when you combine it with the calming vibes of CBD, you’ve got the perfect chill day.
