Dads, You Deserve to Chill Today

If you’ve ever said, “Hi hungry, I’m Dad,” or if you have a collection of old power cables you’re keeping around “just in case,” this post is for you.

It’s Father’s Day, dads of America! That sacred holiday when everybody’s required to laugh at your jokes and nobody can make fun of your cargo shorts. It’s your day to chill.

Did you know, even though the first Father’s Day observances happened in the early 1900s, that the day wasn’t declared a national holiday until 1972? We have a lot of people to thank for creating a day to celebrate dads, especially Sonora Smart Dodd, who came up with the idea while attending a Mother’s Day celebration in 1909.

Dodd wanted to honor her own father, a Civil War veteran who raised her and her five brothers by himself after his wife died in childbirth. In 1966, Lyndon Johnson declared that Father’s Day should be celebrated on the third Sunday in June, and six years later Richard Nixon declared it an official national holiday.

But Father’s Day isn’t only celebrated in the States. From Australia to Zimbabwe, it’s celebrated in some fashion all over the world. In Thailand, fathers traditionally receive a canna flower, while in Germany groups of men get together to hike while pulling wagons filled with wine and beer.

We hear the wagons get lighter as the hike progresses.

Here in the U.S., there are a lot of clichés about dads. We joke about dad bods, terrible jokes and even worse sneakers, but the truth is that dads are a diverse and surprising bunch. There are many kinds of families, many kinds of dads, and many ways they prefer to chill.

Some dads want to kick back and watch a game, some want to hit the trail or the gym, and some just want to take advantage of family time.

Let’s take a look at how different kinds of dads can make the most of CBD to enhance their Father’s Day experience … and how gift-givers can surprise dad with something he’ll like even more than a tie or a power tool (ok, maybe as much as the power tool).

The Sports Fan

Baseball is in full swing, the NBA’s in playoff mode, and the U.S. Open is wrapping up. For dads who want to kick back at home and take in a game, there are a number of ways to make the most of CBD.

A calming tincture will give you a fast-acting and long-lasting CBD effects, and is especially great when those long innings turn into ideal opportunities for an afternoon nap.

The Griller

cbdfx photo lifestyle chillshot jul Some dads like to don the “Kiss the Cook” apron and fire up the grill. Something primal about an open flame and meat brings out the aspiring barbecue champion in many dads.

If you’re ready for an afternoon over the grill, a refreshing berry- or lemonade-flavored Chill Shot with 20mg of CBD might be just the thing to keep your grilling experience chill and fun, no matter how many substitution orders, picky eaters, or vegetarians you encounter.

The Outdoorsman

L-Arginine is an amino acid that promotes better blood flow by dilating blood vessels. It works in concert with caffeine and CBD to help you keep your energy up and your mind on the task at hand.

After a good hike or workout, a CBD Muscle and Joint Cream with soothing menthol and white willow bark, or a CBD Muscle Balm can make for a refreshing and relaxing rubdown to round out an active day. Plus, since it’s Father’s Day, you have an excuse to ask for a massage.

The Gym Rat

Not only will soothing CBD muscle and joint topicals help after a session in the weight room, but CBD cookies feature 13 grams of muscle-boosting protein along with 20 milligrams of CBD.

The Dog Dad

Believe it or not, you can purchase CBD tinctures and treats for your pup and sync your own and your dog’s chill time.
